Montenegro is seeing a growing number of tourists from distant markets such as the United States, China, Israel, and Azerbaijan, according to Maja Kovačević, Head of International Cooperation at the Ministry of Tourism. She emphasized the importance of further diversifying tourism markets to reduce the impact of global economic and geopolitical uncertainties.

The Ministry’s strategic goal, she said, is to expand Montenegro’s tourism offer year-round and reduce reliance on a limited number of markets.

Due to Montenegro’s geographic location, strengthening air connectivity is essential. This summer, there are over 95 active flight routes from Podgorica and Tivat.

Kovačević highlighted the example of the new Barcelona route, which carried over 4,000 passengers in just 12 rotations within a month of launch — showing strong potential in the Spanish market.
