In Montenegro, sales of domestic products have declined, while imports of food products increased compared to last year, according to Milutin Đuranović, Chairman of the Committee for the Agricultural and Food Industry at the Chamber of Commerce.
In the first half of 2025, Montenegro spent €493 million on food imports, €51 million more than the previous year. Imported food volumes rose by 8.1%, while domestic milk purchases fell by nearly 4% and exports dropped by 3.7%. This resulted in a significant trade imbalance, with imports exceeding exports by 12.9 times—meaning that for every €100 of imported food and beverages, only €7.7 worth was exported.
