The contractor, EUROZOX doo Danilovgrad, is expected to complete the works within five months. Planned upgrades include replacement of roofs, facade windows and doors, external wall insulation, full modernization of lighting systems to LED, renovation of bathrooms, replacement of plumbing and sewage systems, and conversion of heating systems from light fuel oil to eco-friendly pellet heating. These measures aim to enhance energy efficiency, sustainability, and the overall functionality and safety of the schools.

Šahmanović emphasized that the project represents an investment in children and the future, aiming to create modern, safe learning environments and promote regional development in northern Montenegro. Education Minister Anđela Jakšić Stojanović highlighted the dual benefits of improving learning conditions and supporting environmental sustainability.

The project is part of the PEEPB program, a partnership between the Government of Montenegro, KfW Bank, and the European Commission, combining €45 million in loans with nearly €4.8 million in grant funding. The government is contributing up to €10 million to ensure high energy efficiency standards in public buildings.

Previous projects under PEEPB have upgraded schools in Bar, Cetinje, Tuzi, and Kotor, with ongoing work at the Grabovac pavilion in Risan and preparation for future clusters in Herceg Novi and Risan. Technical documentation is also being prepared for public administration and educational facilities in Podgorica and Nikšić, as well as a new student dormitory in Cetinje.
