The Minister of Tourism, Simonida Kordić, has called on all stakeholders involved in the tourism industry to contribute maximally to addressing potential challenges in order to ensure that Montenegro is well-prepared for the increased influx of tourists and to secure a successful season.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Tourism, Kordić chaired a special session of the Coordination Body for Monitoring Tourism Seasons.
The statement highlighted that Kordić appealed to all stakeholders who have an impact on the tourism industry to work towards eliminating potential challenges, so Montenegro can effectively handle the rise in tourist arrivals and ensure a high-quality season.
Representatives from the Ministry of Transport informed attendees that part of the Tivat-Budva boulevard, from Tivat airport to the turnoff for Bigovo, will be asphalted before the start of the season.
“Other works will be carried out in a manner that will not disrupt the tourist season, and if that is not possible, they will be temporarily suspended. It was also announced that the roads ÄŒevo-Cetinje and NikÅ¡ić-Kuside will be completed before the summer season,” the statement said.
It was agreed to continue intensive communication with the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUP) to discuss increasing the number of police officers during the season, the possibility of banning high-tonnage freight vehicles during the summer season, or limiting their access to nighttime hours only, and regulating pedestrian traffic across main roads.
Additionally, the Airports of Montenegro announced that a rise in passenger numbers is expected, especially at Tivat Airport, where a 25% increase in traffic is forecast compared to last year.
The MUP also noted that there was a 13% increase in border crossings in March compared to the same period last year, further confirming positive trends ahead of the summer tourist season.
