In the second quarter, the total value of purchases and sales of agricultural, forestry, and fisheries products by businesses and cooperatives with two or more employees in Montenegro reached €12.8 million.
- Of this, €4.8 million (37.8%) came from sales of own production, while €8 million (62.2%) was purchased from individual farmers.
- Compared to the same period last year, total purchases and sales decreased by 1%, with a 7.1% drop in sales from businesses’ own production, while purchases from individual producers rose by 3.1%.
The main products contributing to this value were: raw cow’s milk (22.9%), vegetables (19%), chicken eggs (16%), other products and livestock (13.8%), fresh fish (7.5%), fresh fruit (6%), industrial crops (0.5%), and processed fruit and grape products (0.4%).
Data were collected on quantities, values, and average producer prices for products, including deliveries to other businesses for processing or sale, while only products from own production were included in sales values. Purchases from individual producers reflect the amounts paid by businesses, excluding any premiums received by farmers.
Monstat noted that the survey covers businesses with at least two employees and does not represent total agricultural product turnover across Montenegro.
