Montenegro has numerous potentials that should be utilized in a sustainable and economically profitable manner, as highlighted during a meeting between Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordić and the Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Montenegro, Ekaterina Paniklova.
Paniklova shared positive impressions after a constructive meeting in New York, where Kordić met with the Deputy Administrator of UNDP, Ivana Živković.
“The readiness and willingness of both sides to continue and deepen cooperation, especially in terms of the exchange of experiences and expert assistance, was emphasized,” the Ministry’s statement reads.
In this regard, Kordić stressed the Ministry’s commitment to elevating tourism to a higher level, with UNDP’s assistance in the form of a detailed analysis of the tourism market being highly valuable.
This would serve as the foundation for the new Tourism Strategy, which is planned for adoption next year.
UNDP has offered training programs for public officials aimed at strengthening their capacity to prepare, submit, and monitor the implementation of projects. This would contribute to better absorption of EU funds and other available international financing sources in Montenegro.
The importance of digitalization was also discussed, a project that the Ministry of Tourism strongly supports in order to monitor tourist trends in real time and respond accordingly, as stated in the release.
