Montenegro’s foreign trade in goods rises 5.6 percent in first seven months of 2025

The total foreign trade in goods of Montenegro in the first seven months of the year, according to preliminary data from Monstat, amounted to 2.82 billion euros, representing an increase of 5.6 percent compared to the same period last year.

Monstat reported that exports totaled 327.3 million euros, a decrease of 0.9 percent compared to the same period last year. Imports rose by 6.5 percent, reaching 2.49 billion euros.

The coverage of imports by exports was 13.1 percent, lower than in the same period last year when it stood at 14.1 percent.

In the export structure, the largest share was held by mineral fuels and lubricants, totaling 85.3 million euros, including 67.2 million euros in electricity and other related products.

In the import structure, machinery and transport equipment dominated, totaling 613.7 million euros, including 246.9 million euros in road vehicles and other items.

The largest foreign trade partners in exports were Serbia with 86.7 million euros, Bosnia and Herzegovina with 29.3 million euros, and Switzerland with 26.2 million euros.

The largest foreign trade partners in imports were Serbia with 432.1 million euros, China with 308.3 million euros, and Germany with 248.4 million euros.

Foreign trade in goods was highest with the signatories of the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA) and the European Union (EU).
