Montenegro experiences increase in tourist numbers and earnings in 2025

According to unofficial data from local tourist organizations, Montenegro hosted 137,000 tourists on August 28, a 2.3% increase compared to the same period last year, with the highest numbers in Budva, Ulcinj, Herceg Novi and Bar.

Tourism-related revenues, including accommodation and tourist taxes and membership fees, reached 2.96 million euros by August 28, up 2.5% year-on-year.

Official Monstat data show that 1.5 million tourists visited Montenegro in the first seven months of 2025, a 4% increase compared to the same period in 2024 and 14% higher than in 2019. July alone saw 560,000 arrivals, roughly unchanged from last year. The largest tourist markets were Serbia, Russia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Turkey, Germany, the UK, and France.

Montenegro’s airports handled 2,089,832 passengers from January 1 to August 24, up 7% from 2024 and 17% compared to the same period in 2019.
