The construction of a bypass around Budva, part of the fast road network along Montenegro’s coastline, will be included in this year’s budget through a technical revision following the recent reconstruction of the Government of Montenegro. A tender for the construction of the nine-kilometer bypass, stretching from Markovići to Lastva Grbaljska, is planned to be announced by the end of the year, as stated by Monteput.
This section represents the first phase of building a modern road along the Adriatic coast, which will feature eight bridges with a total length of 1.74 kilometers and two tunnels with a total length of 3.98 kilometers. The project is based on a conceptual design developed by Monteput d.o.o. as part of Montenegro’s Spatial Plan.
The investment value is estimated at 237 million euros, including VAT, while land expropriation costs are estimated to be an additional 20 million euros. The project will be funded through the capital budget, with Monteput d.o.o. responsible for its implementation.
The bypass will connect the main roads Podgorica-Budva and Budva-Tivat, significantly helping to divert transit traffic away from the urban core of Budva. This will reduce traffic congestion, shorten travel times, lower pollution, increase safety, and improve the experience for tourists.
With this infrastructure advancement, Montenegro is taking an important step toward better transportation connectivity and long-term development in tourism and the economy, as concluded in the statement.
