Two ferry routes will connect Montenegro and Italy this July and August.
The Croatian Jadrolinija ferry “Dalmacija,” the largest in its fleet, will operate daily between Bar and Bari from July 1 until the end of August. The trip takes eight hours, carrying up to 800 passengers and 280 vehicles. Ticket prices are 78 EUR for passengers one-way and 101 EUR for vehicles up to five meters. Return tickets cost 144.40 EUR for passengers and 186.60 EUR for vehicles. Children under 12 and groups of 15 or more receive discounts. The ferry will also stop in Dubrovnik on the route to Bari.
The “Dalmacija” does not have cabins, so it only runs daytime trips, offering amenities like restaurants and bars on board. Next year, cabins are expected to be added to allow night sailings.
The existing ferry “Mia,” operated by Italian company Adria Ferries, continues its service between Ancona, Bar, and Durrës. It runs about three times a week with flexible scheduling based on demand. Prices range from 72 to 108 EUR per passenger one-way and 104 to 170 EUR for vehicles, depending on booking time.
The Bar-Bari route is popular mainly with Montenegrins, while the Ancona-Bar-Durrës route serves many Western European residents and truck drivers who prefer the sea route to avoid longer land travel.
This summer marks the second season for the Bar-Ancona line, with better preparation and promotion compared to last year. Officials emphasize the importance of ferry connections with Italy as Montenegro’s key link to the European Union.
