Montenegro to renovate Nikšić General Hospital with UNICEF support

Next year, the renovation of the General Hospital in Nikšić will begin, announced Montenegro’s Minister of Health, Vojislav Šimun. The project, supported by UNICEF, aims to significantly improve conditions for patients and healthcare staff.

Minister Šimun met with UNICEF representatives to discuss initiatives focused on enhancing healthcare services and family support in Montenegro. He emphasized the Ministry’s readiness to introduce modern therapeutic protocols for preeclampsia treatment, aligning with international standards to improve care for pregnant women and new mothers.

In addition to the hospital renovation, Šimun confirmed his participation in an upcoming conference on home visits and family support, highlighting its importance for strengthening parenting support. He also supported early childhood intervention initiatives and proposed collaboration with NGOs to ensure comprehensive support for children and families.

Šimun stated that cooperation with UNICEF and other partners aims to build a stronger, more efficient healthcare system that addresses the needs of children, parents, and the wider community.
