Montenegro’s wage trends in May: Sectoral growth and decline insights

According to the statement from Monstat, considering that consumer prices in May increased by 0.1% compared to April, real wages during the same period rose by 0.4%.

Average earnings before taxes and contributions in May saw increases compared to the previous month in various sectors: accommodation and food services by 2%, water supply, waste management, administrative and support services by 1.5%, healthcare and social services by 1.3%, manufacturing industry by 1.2% and arts, entertainment and recreation by 1.1%.

Sectors like construction, transportation and storage each saw a 1% increase, while electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply increased by 0.8%. Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles increased by 0.7%, information and communication by 0.6%, and agriculture, forestry, and fishing by 0.1%.

A decrease in average earnings before taxes and contributions in May compared to April was noted in the financial and insurance activities sector by 1.7%, real estate activities by 0.3%, mining and quarrying by 0.2%, and professional, scientific, and technical activities, public administration and defense; compulsory social security, education, and other service activities by 0.1%.
