Montenegro sees strong foreign direct investment inflows of €211.76 million in Q1 2025

Montenegro recorded a total inflow of foreign direct investments (FDI) of EUR 211.76 million in the first quarter, while EUR 89.52 million flowed out of the country, according to preliminary data from the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG).

The net FDI inflow for this period was EUR 122.24 million, marking a 3.98% increase compared to the same period last year.

Total FDI inflow grew by 1.4% year-on-year.

Outflows due to residents’ investments abroad amounted to EUR 27.06 million, while non-resident withdrawals of investments in Montenegro reached EUR 62.46 million.

Equity investments made up the majority of FDI inflows, totaling EUR 135.19 million or 63.84% of the total. Of this, EUR 113.51 million was invested in real estate, and EUR 21.68 million in enterprises and banks.

Intercompany debt inflows amounted to EUR 70.11 million, a decrease of 7.03% compared to the first quarter of the previous year. The remaining 3.05% of FDI inflows were categorized as other investments.
