Revenue from fuel excise taxes in Montenegro exceeded EUR 208 million last year, according to official data.
The Customs Administration reported to Adria portal that from January 1 to December 31 of the previous year, excise tax collection on mineral oils and their derivatives amounted to EUR 208,016,094, which is a 12.3% increase compared to 2023.
In October 2024, excise tax revenue on mineral oils and their derivatives reached EUR 18,928,938, reflecting a 10.4% increase from the same period in 2023, according to Customs Administration officials.
In November 2024, excise tax revenue from mineral oils and their derivatives amounted to EUR 17,330,639, marking a 16.5% rise compared to November 2023.
In December 2024, EUR 16,387,997 was collected in fuel excise taxes, an increase of about 12.8% compared to December 2023, the Customs Administration added.
The Ministry of Finance adopted a regulation late last year exempting yacht and boat owners from fuel excise taxes, aiming to promote the development of nautical tourism.
Currently, the excise tax on fuel ranges from 33 to 44 cents per liter.
The Excise Tax Law regulates the system and imposes a tax obligation on excise goods placed on the market in Montenegro.
