Payment transactions in Montenegro fall by 46% in January, CBCG reports

The value of payment transactions completed over 21 working days in January amounted to €1.64 billion, a 46.4% decrease compared to December, according to data from the Central Bank of Montenegro (CBCG).

Of this, 94.59% was processed through the Real Time Gross Settlement (RTGS) system, while the remainder was processed through the Deferred Net Settlement (DNS) system.

The RTGS system handles individual payment transactions between participants on a gross basis in real time, while the DNS system processes interbank payment transactions on a net basis in deferred time.

In January, a total of 931,520 payment orders were processed over 21 working days, with 36.64% conducted through the RTGS system and the rest through the DNS system, as stated in the CBCG report.

The average daily transaction volume in the RTGS and DNS systems, measured by the number of orders, was 44,360 orders, with an average daily payment transaction value of €78.09 million.

During January, for 11,450 minutes of operation, there were no system downtimes, and its availability was 100%.
