Monteput has announced the initiation of a tender for the conceptual design of the Nikšić – Žabljak – Pljevlja expressway, which includes the sub-sections Nikšić-Šavnik, Šavnik-Žabljak, and Žabljak-Pljevlja (Vrulja). This expressway will span 96 km, with four lanes and a design speed of 100 km/h. The project will begin at the Kapino Polje interchange and end at the connection to the Crnča – Pljevlja fast road.
A budget of €169,421.49 (without VAT) has been allocated for this project, and the deadline for submitting the design solution is six months from the contract signing.
The expressway is part of a broader plan for a high-speed road network connecting the northern and central regions of Montenegro, contributing to improved regional connectivity and economic cooperation.
The project involves defining the route and necessary interchanges with existing road networks. Key locations include interchanges at Kapino Polje, Vidrovan, Jasenovo Polje, Donja Brezna, Pošćenje, and Tepačko Polje, as well as crossings over the Komarnica Canyon and the Tara Canyon near the Durmitor National Park.
The design will focus on ensuring environmental protection and preserving natural landscapes, particularly in the areas surrounding the Nevidio Canyon and the Durmitor National Park. The final road design will include four lanes, with two lanes in each direction, and accommodate traffic speeds of up to 100 km/h, except in areas with complex topography where speeds may be reduced.
The goal of the project is to enhance connectivity within Montenegro and improve access to the northern regions, supporting infrastructure development and sustainable regional growth.
