In the first nine months of this year, 10,130 subscribers utilized the number portability service, primarily in mobile telephony, according to the Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Services (EKIP).
EKIP reported to Mina-business that 1,090 numbers were transferred in the fixed network, while 9,040 numbers were transferred in mobile networks.
“In fixed telephony, most transfers went to Mwith 680 numbers, followed by One Montenegro with 347, Telemach with 38 and Crnogorski Telekom with 25,” stated EKIP.
The highest number of departures came from Crnogorski Telekom’s fixed network, with 906 numbers, followed by Mwith 162, Telemach with 20, and One with 2.
In mobile number transfers, out of the total 9,040, the majority were transferred to M:tel (4,250), then to Crnogorski Telekom (2,530) and to One (2,270).
“Most users switched from One’s mobile network, totaling 4,520, followed by Crnogorski Telekom with 2,820, and the fewest from M:tel with 1,700 numbers,” EKIP clarified.
The number portability service has been available since December 1, 2011. By the end of September this year, a total of 101,820 numbers have been transferred, including 17,880 in fixed networks and 83,940 in mobile networks.
“The most numbers were transferred to M’s fixed network (11,030), followed by Telemach (4,170), One (2,300), Crnogorski Telekom (387) and Orion (3),” EKIP added.
The largest number of departures from fixed networks occurred at Crnogorski Telekom (16,930), followed by M:tel (495), Telemach (418) and One (34).
In mobile networks, of the 83,940 transferred numbers, most were to M:tel (42,420), then to Crnogorski Telekom (25,180), and to One (16,330).
Most users switched from One (42,700), followed by Crnogorski Telekom (27,730) and the fewest from M:tel (13,500).
Number portability allows subscribers to keep their phone numbers when changing operators. Numbers can be transferred from fixed to fixed networks, or from mobile to mobile networks.
The total time for a number transfer is three business days. A subscriber wishing to transfer their number submits a request to the receiving operator, which is considered a request to terminate the contract with the original provider.
Subscribers can transfer their number again after three months from the last transfer. If a transfer request is denied, the subscriber may appeal to EKIP.
“EKIP has not encountered any cases related to number portability during the first nine months of this year,” EKIP concluded.
