Podgorica Mayor Saša Mujović’s decision to provide free public transportation for pensioners has been well-received by the elderly and their associations. This initiative, already in place in coastal municipalities like Bar, Budva, and Herceg Novi, aims to improve the quality of life for senior citizens, many of whom face mobility challenges and need to visit healthcare facilities and shops.

Branko Vešović, president of the Pensioners’ Association of Montenegro, praised the decision, highlighting the significant benefits for pensioners, particularly those with lower pensions. He stressed that such initiatives reduce monthly expenses and improve mobility for older citizens.

Vešović called for similar measures to be applied at the national level, ensuring equal access to benefits for all pensioners. He also noted that while coastal municipalities have made progress, northern regions are still lacking such initiatives.

Krsto Radusinović, president of the Podgorica Pensioners’ Association, welcomed the initiative, stating that it would greatly ease the lives of pensioners, especially those with limited income. He also emphasized the need for direct dialogue with the mayor to discuss further improvements for pensioners’ living conditions.
