The capital city is the only one in the country whose tourism economy achieved better results than in the record year 2019, announced the mayor of Podgorica, Ivan Vuković.

Tourism in Podgorica – the result for last year is even 28 percent better than the record 2019,” Vuković wrote on his Facebook profile.

As he said, the most convincing proof of this is the income from the tourist tax and membership contribution of the Tourist Organization of Podgorica (TOP), which last year amounted to EUR 605.96 thousand, and in 2019 it amounted to EUR 476.3 thousand.

“In addition, for the first 11 months of last year, 314.5 thousand overnight stays were realized in Podgorica, which is 11 percent more than in 2019,” said Vuković.

He assessed that natural beauty, a great gastronomic offer, an increasing number of quality hotels and restaurants, as well as numerous events initiated by the great Tourist Organization make Podgorica slowly becoming more and more recognizable on the tourist map of Montenegro.
