The “Price Limitation” initiative has played a key role in stabilizing and reducing the prices of essential food items, contributing to the overall low inflation rate in Montenegro, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economic Development, Nik Đeljošaj.
In a statement, Đeljošaj highlighted that in October 2023, the country experienced a decrease in the overall annual inflation rate, which dropped to 1.2%. He further noted that the monthly inflation rate for October was 0%, indicating that prices remained stable compared to September.
According to data from the Statistical Office of Montenegro (Monstat), the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages decreased by -0.1%, showing a negative inflation rate for these categories.
“Given this, it is clear that the ‘Price Limitation’ initiative by the 44th Government of Montenegro has contributed to the stabilization and reduction of prices for basic food items, while also supporting the overall low inflation rate in the country,” said Đeljošaj.
He emphasized that the Ministry of Economic Development will continue to monitor the prices of essential goods based on an established methodology and will propose measures to protect the living standards of citizens.
