Members of the Civic Movement URA will propose an extension of the agenda for tomorrow’s session of the Montenegrin Parliament, aiming to increase the minimum pension for proportional pension recipients and child benefits.
Miloš Konatar, leader of the URA parliamentary group, stated that the Assembly passed a decision on December 29 last year, instructing the Government to propose an increase in pensions for proportional pension recipients by the end of March. Currently, these recipients do not benefit from the minimum pension of €450, which Konatar described as an injustice.
“Since Prime Minister Milojko Spajić has failed to fulfill his promise, and he himself committed to increasing the minimum pension for proportional pensioners from January 1 of the next year, now is the opportunity for Parliament to adopt amendments to the pension and disability insurance law (PIO) to set the minimum pension at €450 for proportional pensioners, thus correcting this injustice,” Konatar said.
He also noted that, due to rising prices, the value of child benefits from 2021 has significantly decreased, which is why they are proposing a 50% increase in all child benefit amounts.
“There is no justification for the Government to propose a 30% wage increase for public officials while there is no money for pensions and children in Montenegro,” Konatar concluded.
