Qair Montenegro has received approval from the Environmental Protection Agency for the construction of a solar power plant in the village of Rudine, near Nikšić. The planned capacity of the plant is around 50 MW.

The company’s plans include the construction of the Rudine Solar Power Plant with a capacity of 46.55 MW across multiple cadastral parcels in the Rudine area. The project will involve the installation of 79,900 solar panels covering an area of 202,777 m². It is expected that the power plant will generate approximately 73 GWh of electricity annually once completed, although the exact figure will be defined in the main project.

“The Environmental Impact Assessment report for the construction of the renewable energy power plant – Rudine Solar Power Plant with an installed capacity of 46.55 MW – was prepared in accordance with the Environmental Impact Assessment Law and includes measures to prevent, reduce, or eliminate harmful environmental impacts,” stated the agency’s decision.

The approval also specifies that the investor must carry out the construction of the solar power plant in full compliance with the environmental protection measures outlined in the assessment, which primarily focus on preventing, reducing, or eliminating negative impacts during construction, operation, and in the event of an accident, as well as monitoring the project’s environmental impact.

The investor submitted the request to the Agency in October last year, while the urban planning and technical conditions were issued in September 2023.

In the same Rudine area, the company Rudine Energy Park, backed by Swiss Swiss Green Energy Holding, will also build a solar power plant with a capacity of 186.1 MWp.
