Montenegro’s Tourism Minister Simonida Kordić met with Serbian Ambassador Nebojša Rodić to discuss strengthening tourism cooperation between the two countries. Officials emphasized that Serbian tourists continue to be the most numerous visitors to Montenegro, drawn by historical ties and welcoming atmosphere.
Minister Kordić highlighted the special importance of Serbian tourists for Montenegro’s tourism economy and expressed confidence their numbers would grow further this year. The meeting also explored collaboration opportunities in health tourism and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions) tourism sectors.
Kordić stressed Montenegro’s strong potential for investments in conference facilities to attract more visitors and extend the tourist season. She noted the pandemic and geopolitical challenges demonstrated the need to open new markets and diversify tourism offerings.
Discussions included developing a joint regional tourism product targeting distant markets to promote the area as a unified destination offering unique experiences. Both sides agreed on the importance of improving infrastructure and expanding accommodation capacities to extend the tourism season and enhance competitiveness.
The upcoming EXPO 2027 in Belgrade was identified as a significant opportunity for Montenegro to showcase its tourism potential. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to deepening tourism cooperation between the two neighboring countries.
