Since the beginning of the year, 2.19 million vehicles have passed through the Sozina Tunnel, according to data from Monteput, the company responsible for managing the tunnel. Last year, the tunnel saw a total of 3.52 million vehicles, compared to 3.07 million in 2022 and 2.61 million in 2021.
The Sozina Tunnel, which connects Montenegro’s coastal region with its central areas, was opened in July 2005. The construction of the tunnel cost approximately 74 million euros, with 50 million provided by Montenegro and 24 million funded through a loan from the European Investment Bank (EIB).
Stretching 4.19 kilometers, the Sozina Tunnel remains a crucial infrastructure link within the country.
