The first meeting of the Coordination Body for Preparing and Monitoring Tourist Seasons, led by Minister of Tourism Simonida Kordić, focused on evaluating the outcomes of the summer season and planning for the winter season, independent of climatic factors.
During the meeting, Kordić updated members on the ministry’s intensified efforts to prepare for winter tourism. She urged the tourism industry and local tourist organizations to work on diversifying their offerings, creating additional activities to attract visitors and mitigate potential negative impacts.
Additionally, they are considering the possibility of implementing partial snowmaking as a temporary solution to address any snowfall shortages.
Kordić also announced that the Capital Budget of Montenegro includes plans to construct two ski lifts at the state-run “KolaÅ¡in 1600” ski center and a beginner ski area at Savin Kuk on Durmitor.
A long-term concern highlighted was the operation of hotels, which is an issue not just in the north, but across all of Montenegro. This topic will be revisited in future meetings of the Coordination Body to seek appropriate solutions.
Attendees included Slaven Radunović, Minister of Spatial Planning, Urbanism, and State Property, as well as state secretaries from the Ministry of Tourism, Vuk Žižić and Petar Drašković, along with representatives from relevant ministries, institutions, tourism organizations, and municipalities.
