Monteput has announced a tender for the preparation of an Environmental Impact Assessment report for the infrastructure project of a fast traffic road section from Herceg Novi to Budva, including a crossing over the Bay of Kotor. The estimated contract value is €44,630.

According to Montenegro’s Spatial Plan, the project envisions building a modern fast road along the Montenegrin coast, from the Croatian border to the Albanian border. The new road aims to improve traffic connectivity, reduce congestion in coastal towns, and protect the environment by relieving the existing Adriatic Highway, which runs through urban centers, allowing it to become a tourist route.

Two main options are being considered for crossing the Bay of Kotor: the “Verige” bridge between Cape Opatovo and Cape Sveta Neđelja, or a tunnel beneath the bay between Cape Gospa od Anđela and Turkish Cape. Conceptual designs for four corridor variants have been developed, starting at Debeli Brijeg near the Croatian border and ending near the village of Vrijesno, with a unified corridor from Bratešići to Budva.

The Spatial Plan of Montenegro is currently being finalized to define unified corridors for main traffic routes, including highways and fast roads.
