The average salary without taxes and contributions in December was, according to the data from Monstat, 814 EUR, which was 0.9% higher compared to November.
The average net salary in December increased by 12% compared to the same month in 2022.
The average gross salary in December was 1.02 thousand EUR.
“If we take into account that consumer prices in December decreased by 0.5% compared to November, it follows that real wages for the same period recorded an increase of 1.4%,” stated Monstat.
On an annual basis, the average gross salary was 987 EUR last year, and the average net salary was 792 EUR.
“If we consider that consumer prices in the past year increased by 8.6% compared to 2022, it follows that real wages for the same period recorded an increase of 2.4%,” the statement said.
Average salaries without taxes and contributions in December increased compared to the previous month in the sectors of other services by 2.9%, construction by 2.4%, public administration and defense; compulsory social security by 2.1%, agriculture, forestry, and fishing by 2%, accommodation and food services by 1.6%, transportation and storage by 1.3%, professional, scientific, and technical activities by 1%, information and communication, and arts, entertainment, and recreation by 0.9%.
Growth was also recorded in healthcare and social protection by 0.8%, water supply and education by 0.7%, wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, and financial and insurance activities by 0.6%, real estate activities by 0.4%, and manufacturing industry by 0.2%.
A decrease in average salaries without taxes and contributions in December compared to the previous month was observed in the sectors of electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply by 3.6%, and mining and quarrying by 0.9%.
