The Executive Director of the Airport of Montenegro (ACG), Vladan Drašković, announced that the construction of a new terminal at Podgorica Airport, with accompanying facilities, cannot be discussed before the Government makes a final decision on whether to retain management of the company.

The government, as he stated, should decide whether state management of this company will be maintained, or whether the airports in Tivat and Podgorica will be given a concession.

The construction of the second terminal at the Podgorica airport was announced at the Government session by the President of the Board of Directors of ACG, Eldin Dobardžić, who said that the airports plan to build a new terminal building at the Podgorica airport, which could cost between 30 and 40 million EUR.

Dobardžić presented the project at the Government session, asking the executive authority to give the “green light” for the state-owned company to start implementing the project, but he did not say whether this was the unique position of the company’s entire management. He did not even mention the tender for the concession, which is still current.

– The strategic plan contains an overview of the development needs of both airports. Long-term stagnation in development will sooner or later produce stagnation in functioning, and then the choices are reduced to improvisation. Any initiative that draws attention to these circumstances is good, and a systematic phased implementation with implied mandatory elements is possible after the owner has made a clear decision regarding the future management model – Drašković said.

The document called “Strategic business plan – current state and dynamic presentation of the path to the projected goal“, which was created in March by Drašković’s team, shows that ACG can be a successful and profitable company that can provide its own development in in accordance with the needs of the state, and that in the next seven years ACG can make a profit in the total amount of more than 120 million with a simultaneous investment of 138.4 million in the development of the airport.
