In Podgorica, the first contract on connecting the solar power plant to the transmission system was signed. It is a project of the company M Energy from Cetinje, and the Čevo solar power plant will have an installed capacity of 385 MW. The value of the investment is around EUR 300 million.
As announced, the contract was signed by the executive director of CGES and the company M Energy, Ivan Asanović and Aleksandar Špadijer.
The future solar power plant will be built on the territory of the cadastral municipalities of Ubli (Cetinje), Bogetići and Broćanci on the territory of the municipality of Nikšić.
– In order to develop and successfully realize this investment for the production of energy from renewable sources, the finalization of which will have multiple benefits for both citizens and the economy, the investor has submitted a formal application to CGES for connection to the transmission system, having previously obtained urban planning and technical conditions from Government of Montenegro for the construction of the power plant – it is stated in the announcement of the CGES.
The contract defines a dynamic plan that foresees that the power plant will be built and connected to the grid by 2027.
– Despite the fact that the integration of renewable energy sources into the existing network infrastructure will present technical challenges, and that CGES has already received a significant number of requests for connection, the transmission network managed by the Montenegrin Electric Transmission System is largely prepared for such trends. So far, our company has invested significant funds in the strengthening and modernization of its capacities, but also in new projects of regional importance – the announcement reads.
As they state, they will continue with such intensive development of the transmission network.
– Which is confirmed by the very ambitious five-year investment plan, worth EUR 195 million – conclude from the Montenegrin electric transmission system.
Let us remind you that in December last year, the Government issued to M Energy the urban planning and technical conditions for the construction of solar power plants in the scope of KO Ubli on Cetinje, that is KO Bogetići and Broćanac in the territory of the municipality of Nikšić.
There is considerable interest from investors in the construction of solar power plants. Also, the urban planning and technical conditions for the wind farm in Pljevlja have been issued. The Nebojša wind farm will be built on a total area of about 1,671,700 m2, it will have about 20 wind turbines with a total power of 120 MW.
