The Old Town of Kotor is a well preserved walled town and seaport located in the south part of the majestic Kotor Bay, nestled at the foot of the Lovcen massif that towers 1749m above and protects the city that was founded by Ancient Romans. With a fascinating and rich history the medieval forts that exist to this day paint stories and legends through centuries, across its nearly 5 km of city walls that hug the squares, palaces and architectural monument beauties of times past. Founded in the 5th century BC and first mentioned in the 7th century, the area was on the border of the East and West Roman Empire and has endured many kingdoms since then. The city is home to famous St Tryphon Cathedral and the Church of St Luke, both dating back to the 12th century, while the St Mary’s church is home to frescos dating back to the 6th century, to name but a few. The Maritime Museum located in the Grgurina Palace from the 17th century, or the colorful Kotor Cat Museum are just some of the museums you can visit.

In between museums and historical landmarks you will find an array of cafés, restaurants and pubs that range from local fast food eateries to family style pizzerias, seafood havens, Mediterranean tavernas, ice-cream parlours, and gourmet dining signature restaurants, through to craft beer pubs, wine bars, DJ spots with cocktails and live music clubs that will take you into the night.
