Turkey’s International Cooperation and Development Agency (TIKA) remains committed to supporting and further developing Montenegrin communities through concrete projects, stated Serkan Kajalar, the agency’s General Director.

During a meeting with the Vice President of the Montenegrin Parliament, Mirsad Nurković, Kajalar emphasized that their cooperation with Montenegro is not only bilateral but also developmental.

“With more than 500 completed projects, we are one of Montenegro’s most important partners. We do not want that number to remain static – we are open to new proposals and initiatives to improve the living conditions of citizens together,” said Kajalar.

Nurković, who is on an official visit to Turkey, thanked Kajalar for the reception and expressed that it was an honor to meet with the head of the agency, which has done much for Montenegro.

“I am especially pleased with your openness to further cooperation and support. I can confidently say that we are already in the process of preparing new development projects that will improve the standard of living for citizens,” said Nurković.

As stated by the Parliament, Nurković also thanked TIKA for its presence across all parts of Montenegro and in all areas of society, emphasizing that their assistance is felt by every citizen.

Kajalar announced plans for a new visit to Montenegro in the near future and scheduled the next meeting with Nurković to discuss specific projects and future cooperation directions.

Nurković also met with Deputy Foreign Minister Mehmet Kemal Bozaj, who also serves as the Director of European Union Affairs.

He emphasized that this visit contributes to strengthening the cooperation between the two friendly countries, which has lasted for more than a century. Bozaj pointed out that Turkish diplomacy is fully open and ready to deepen cooperation and mutual support, informing Nurković about significant development plans within global trade, in which the Port of Bar will have a strategic role.

According to Bozaj, this will make Montenegro an indispensable factor in regional and global economic development.

Nurković thanked for the reception, noting that this visit is a natural continuation of the previous official meeting between the foreign ministers of Montenegro and Turkey, Ervin Ibrahimović and Hakan Fidan.

He added that this visit further affirms the strong relations between the two countries and their efforts toward even closer cooperation. He especially thanked Turkish diplomacy for its support in promoting Montenegro and expressed satisfaction with the information that Montenegro will play an important role in future geopolitical and Euro-Atlantic developments, both in economic and other areas.

Nurković also expressed hope that, in line with Bozaj’s announcements, Montenegro will become a destination for new investments and development ventures.
