Traffic growth and key features of Montenegro’s Princess Ksenija Highway

Since the beginning of this year, 1.22 million vehicles have used the Princess Ksenija Highway, according to Monteput data. In comparison, 2.87 million vehicles used the highway in 2023, 2.29 million in 2022, and 1.14 million in its opening year.

The priority section of the Bar–Boljare highway was officially opened on July 13, 2022, and opened to traffic the following day. Toll fees are €1.50 for motorcycles, €3.50 for passenger cars, and €17 for trucks and buses.

This first section is 41.5 kilometers long and includes 20 main bridges, 16 dual-tube tunnels, and four interchanges with toll ramps: Smokovac, Pelev Brijeg, Veruša, and Mateševo. The speed limit is 100 km/h.
