At a recent ministerial meeting of transport ministers in Budapest, Montenegro’s Transport Minister Maja Vukićević emphasized the importance of European cooperation in advancing development projects that require mutual support for successful implementation. This message came during her discussions with French Ambassador An-Mari Maskaj.
According to a statement from her ministry, the two officials exchanged views on the current state of the transport sector and the progress of regional infrastructure projects vital for enhancing the economy of both the region and Europe.
“France’s support is highly appreciated, and our historically strong bilateral relations offer a promising signal for future stability. Montenegro is eager to invite French investors to participate in our transport sector,” Vukićević noted.
The meeting also focused on key infrastructure initiatives, including the Bar-Boljare highway project and the status of its second phase, as well as the modernization of the Belgrade-Bar railway. Discussions extended to the future of Montenegrin airports and the national airline’s situation.
The French ambassador expressed support for Montenegro’s European integration efforts and proposed concrete steps for collaboration, including the involvement of technical experts, which would be greatly beneficial for the Montenegrin administration, the ministry’s statement concluded.
