Since the opening of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) office in Podgorica in 2007, around 500 development projects have been implemented, with a total value exceeding 20 million EUR, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ervin Ibrahimović, during a meeting with TIKA President Serkan Kajalar in Podgorica, stated that TIKA is an integral part of the successful development of Montenegro-Turkey relations.
The meeting highlighted TIKA’s important role in strengthening the ties between Montenegro and Turkey and its significant contribution to bilateral cooperation development.
Ibrahimović emphasized the importance of TIKA’s presence in all regions of Montenegro through the implementation of projects.
He also pointed out that dynamic cooperation is complemented by intensive high-level political dialogue, confirming the commitment of both countries to fostering and further developing their friendly relations.
Ibrahimović further emphasized the importance of cooperation in education and culture, as well as the potential for new projects in the field of transportation infrastructure.
“The successful operations of Turkish companies in Montenegro and the interest in new investments speak volumes about the cooperation between our countries. All of this contributes to strengthening both economic and overall interstate relations,” Ibrahimović concluded.
Kajalar mentioned that since his last visit to Montenegro four years ago, cooperation between Turkey and Montenegro has been on an upward trajectory, with the number and significance of successfully implemented projects across numerous municipalities in Montenegro confirming the dedication to deepening ties between the two countries.
“Our goal was to reach all parts of Montenegro, and we have succeeded,” Kajalar said, expressing gratitude to the Government of Montenegro for its support and highly successful collaboration.
He also highlighted that TIKA implemented 35 projects in Montenegro last year, with even more ambitious plans for this year.
“We are especially pleased that these projects improve the daily lives of citizens,” Kajalar added.
The meeting confirmed the commitment to further developing bilateral cooperation and Turkey’s dedication to enhancing stability and prosperity in the Western Balkans.
