The project for the construction of the Liman port in Ulcinj has taken a significant step forward with the signing of a contract for a feasibility study.
The agreement was signed by Ulcinj Mayor Genci Nimanbegu and Ivan Žigo, a representative of the Rijeka-based firm Marecon.
Nimanbegu emphasized that this is a historic day for the citizens and the city of Ulcinj. “We have signed the beginning of our aspirations, a dream generations have waited for, and starting today, we will work to restore Ulcinj’s centuries-old maritime tradition,” he stated.
Ivan Žigo noted that his company has 30 years of experience in preparing feasibility studies and is committed to delivering a thorough analysis for the Liman Port project. The contract stipulates that the study should be completed within 90 days, with a project value of €82,280.
To recap, the tender for the feasibility study was issued in August. The study aims to identify the optimal dimensions and layout of protective structures for the port based on the initially identified potential locations in the Liman bay. This includes various usage scenarios for Liman bay locations 1, 2, and 3.
The proposed site is expected to accommodate vessels up to 30 meters in length and with a draft of 4 to 5 meters.
Additionally, the study must outline potential coastal structures and suggest suitable infrastructure, including protective port facilities, docks, seawalls and other infrastructural solutions. These solutions will be analyzed concerning maritime safety for vessel acceptance, technical specifications, required construction infrastructure and more.
The feasibility study will also include preliminary plans for a promenade along the coast of the port area.
