Following the successful establishment of United Fiber in Greece in 2021, the United Group has embarked on consolidating its fixed infrastructure portfolio across the EU (Bulgaria, Croatia, and Slovenia) under the United Fiber brand, as announced by UG.
Commencing with the registration of a newly established company in Slovenia in March 2024, followed by Bulgaria and Croatia by year-end, the Group is committed to accelerating and fortifying its investments in this pivotal geographic region. The contemporary broadband infrastructure links Europe with the Middle East and Asia, meeting the high demand for transit through the Group’s key markets, according to the announcement.
“At United Group, we possess the expertise to construct and implement cutting-edge fixed infrastructure. Starting from scratch in Serbia in 2000, we have evolved into the largest optical network in Southeast Europe two decades later. Across four EU countries – Greece, Bulgaria, Croatia, and Slovenia, the United Group boasts a 60,000 km backbone and metro network. Our advanced broadband network in these markets serves 3.6 million households, and we are presently executing a plan to connect 475,000 new FTTH households in 2024, with a similar pace projected for subsequent years. Our vision is to become the preferred brand for individual users, corporate clients, and the favored partner for the public sector, facilitating the digital transformation of societies and fostering their prosperity. By disclosing our investment and implementation endeavors within United Fiber, we aim to broaden our scope, foster robust synergies, and elevate our investment capacity to greater heights,” stated Željko Batistić, Vice President for Technology at the United Group.
