The Committee on Economy, Finance, and Budget has unanimously supported legislative amendments proposed by MPs from the Civic Movement URA, which provide compensation for former employees in the textile and leather industries.

The amendments, introduced by URA representatives Filip Adžić and Miloš Konatar, aim to compensate former workers in the textile and leather sectors who lost their jobs and full pensions due to the bankruptcy of state-owned enterprises where they were employed.

“Only the vote at the parliamentary plenary remains, and we expect support from all MPs, both from the government and the opposition,” URA stated.

The party also noted that in 2021, as part of the government, they helped former workers in the metal processing and mining industries. Now, it is time to correct the injustice and extend assistance to those from the wood processing, forestry, textile, and leather industries.
