The Tourist Organization of Žabljak is pleased with the number of visitors currently staying in the town, as well as the forecasts for the upcoming New Year’s holidays and winter months.
Stojan Abazović, the director of TO Žabljak, expressed satisfaction during the opening of the winter tourist season on Friday. He mentioned that the event had gone well and that an exciting calendar of events for the upcoming period had been prepared. “This year, for the first time, we have acquired market stalls for a bazaar that will last for the next three months, an ice skating rink will be opened, and in January, we plan to hold the Days on Snowshoes and Nordic Skiing Days,” said Abazović.
He reminded everyone that last year’s season had been hindered by a lack of snow, but this year they have all the conditions for a successful season. “There is enough snow, and the forecasts predict more. We are satisfied with the number of guests currently in the town and the reservations for the New Year’s holidays and winter months. If the snow holds up, I expect a successful season,” Abazović added.
In collaboration with the Center for Culture and the Municipality of Žabljak, the Tourist Organization held the “Days of Durmitor Products” event, which included a free food and drink tasting for all visitors.
The Minister of Tourism, Simonida Kordić, also attended the opening of the season and officially launched the ski training slope for beginners. This investment, along with the funds secured for the first phase of artificial snowmaking, marks the first investment at this state-owned ski resort after a long period.
Kordić emphasized that such concrete activities demonstrate the Ministry of Tourism’s commitment to modernizing and improving the infrastructure and offerings at this traditional ski resort. “Žabljak, with its unique nature and vast potential, deserves our full attention and support. This is just the beginning of our efforts to make this destination even more attractive for both domestic and foreign tourists,” she said.
She also noted that the Ministry had previously secured funds for the first phase of artificial snowmaking at the Savin Kuk ski resort, ensuring more stable and higher-quality skiing conditions. This effort aims to ensure that Žabljak, despite the challenges posed by climate change, remains a reliable winter destination.
