Montenegro’s tax debt reaches 637 million EUR, revenue sees significant growth

The total estimated tax debt in Montenegro at the beginning of last month amounted to 637 million EUR, confirmed Sava Laketić, the acting director of the Tax Administration (TA).

According to him, of this amount, the principal debt accounts for 391 million EUR, while interest amounts to 246 million EUR. Laketić emphasized that the principal debt has decreased by 250,000 EUR compared to August, while interest has increased by about 1.5 million EUR.

“We anticipate significant effects from the implementation of the new law on the cancellation of interest, and we expect an increase in revenue collection in the first quarter of next year,” Laketić added.

He pointed out that the situation regarding tax debtors, including Plantaže and several railway companies, has not changed much in recent months.
