Montenegro has granted a €6.9 million contract to Bemax for the construction of a new roadway linking the Dinoša–Cijevna Zatrijebačka regional road with the Podgorica–Tuzi boulevard, marking a significant advancement in transport infrastructure in the capital area.
The project entails the development of approximately 2.7 kilometres of new road, which will feature four traffic lanes—two lanes in each direction. Each lane is designed to be 3.5 metres wide.
The Transport Administration has confirmed Bemax as the contractor, establishing a defined construction value and implementation framework for the project, moving beyond mere planning or tendering stages.
This contract value includes VAT, and the timeline for construction is set at 550 calendar days following the contractor’s official commencement on-site.
The new infrastructure aims to enhance connectivity between Podgorica and Tuzi, providing improved access to one of the main transport corridors in the capital region and integrating with the existing regional road network.
For commercial entities, enhanced road infrastructure is expected to decrease travel times and facilitate better movement of goods among Podgorica, Tuzi, and adjacent industrial, agricultural, and logistics zones.
This investment is anticipated to stimulate demand for various construction materials and services including earthworks, asphalt, aggregates, concrete, drainage systems, and other roadbuilding necessities.
Bemax is recognized as one of Montenegro’s leading civil-engineering firms and is currently engaged in multiple large-scale transport and infrastructure projects.
This new contract contributes to a wider public investment initiative that encompasses roads, motorways, railways, and municipal infrastructure improvements.
In the construction sector, contracts like this are more impactful than preliminary announcements as they translate into immediate work opportunities and procurement needs.
The overall economic benefit will hinge on whether this road becomes part of a more cohesive network that connects Podgorica with Tuzi and facilitates access to border transport corridors.
With an expected construction duration of approximately eighteen months, this project is poised to provide ongoing civil works while enhancing the transport capacity of the capital region.
