The Municipality of Pljevlja has put new traffic lights into operation at two significant city intersections, restoring signalised traffic control after more than 40 years. The investment is valued at 263,172 euros including VAT.

The municipality expects the signals to contribute to greater safety for pedestrians and drivers and better traffic organisation at the busy junctions. Mayor Dario Vraneš, who attended the commissioning, described the return as an important step towards a safer, more orderly and modern city.

Pljevlja first received traffic lights in September 1983, ahead of the arrival of then Italian President Sandro Pertini. Those signals stopped working after several years and were later completely removed, leaving the town without traffic lights for decades.

Vraneš also announced plans to install signals at two more busy intersections. Project documentation for the additional installations is being prepared, putting the proposals at the project-documentation stage.
