Bijelo Polje, Montenegro, will run intensified inspections from 30 December to 31 January, 15 days longer than the previous year, with six inspection services working in the field. The Coordination Body for Monitoring and Guiding Inspection Supervision set out the plan at a working meeting on 28 October 2026, focused on preparations for the winter tourism season.
The six services are the Tourism Inspectorate, Market Inspectorate, Tax Inspectorate, Sanitary Inspectorate, Labour Inspectorate and Food Safety Inspectorate. The inspection period is part of an action plan for preparing and monitoring the season, the meeting said.
Inspectors will prioritise preventive work and curbing the grey economy, as well as checks at hospitality and tourism establishments. Their remit will also include employment relations and the health and sanitary safety of food and services, according to the plan.
The meeting reviewed the summer tourism action plan, which had produced excellent results in restoring order and curbing irregularities, participants said. That experience led to a decision to maintain an equally intensive approach during winter, with the extended inspection period adding 15 days compared with last year.
Petar Smolović, president of the Municipality of Bijelo Polje, welcomed the comprehensive plan and said municipal services were ready to cooperate fully with state bodies to create a “safe and orderly environment” for residents, businesses and visitors.
Milutin Butorović, minister without portfolio and head of the Coordination Body, attended with his associates, alongside Smolović and local government representatives. They agreed on continuous field coordination and rapid information-sharing between municipal services and the relevant inspection bodies throughout the winter season.
