Montenegro is set to host a significant summer music tourism initiative as EXIT Festival brings a roster of prominent international artists to the coastal towns of Ulcinj and Budva. This initiative aims to enhance the country’s appeal as a music tourism destination.
The festival will commence at Velika Plaža in Ulcinj, with preliminary events scheduled from July 1 to 3, followed by the main festival activities from July 3 to 6. Subsequently, the festival will transition to Bečići beach in Budva, featuring warm-up events from August 24 to 27 and the main program from August 28 to 31.
This year’s line-up boasts notable figures in electronic and pop-dance music, including Peggy Gou, Charlotte de Witte, Hugel, John Newman, Maceo Plex, Monolink, Enrico Sangiuliano, RPR Soundsystem, Awen, among others.
The festival aims to extend Montenegro’s peak tourist season while bolstering its status within the rapidly growing music tourism sector. Organizers project that EXIT Festival could lead to at least 210,000 overnight stays and generate over €40 million in tourism revenue during the summer months.
A unique aspect of this festival is that attendance will be free for visitors, although registration will be required. Additional details regarding VIP tickets and programming are expected to be released soon.
Dušan Kovačević, founder and director of EXIT, emphasized that the festival features artists who are currently enjoying significant global popularity. He noted that electronic music serves as a powerful draw for affluent international tourists and highlighted the inclusion of numerous local performers in the line-up.
The domestic representation will consist of over 50 local and regional artists, such as Lanna, Laris, Millok, Proximus, Audiostorm, Rayo, Branko Vuković, Raven TK, Lekka, and Rudhaman.
The Velika Plaža venue will also feature a kite-surfing program, promoting it as a notable destination for this coastal sport. In collaboration with leading kite clubs, organizers plan to host a kite show featuring renowned riders from both the region and beyond.
This project provides Montenegro with a prominent entertainment platform as it seeks to diversify its tourism offerings beyond traditional beach activities. By integrating international music, local talent, coastal attractions, and active sports, EXIT Festival aims to attract a younger demographic of higher-spending, globally mobile visitors.
