The Ministry of Public Works in Montenegro has initiated a tender on July 11 for the design and construction of artificial water reservoirs aimed at enhancing snowmaking capabilities at the Ski Centre Kolašin 1600.
These reservoirs are designed to ensure a consistent supply of artificial snow, thereby extending the ski season and reducing reliance on fluctuating natural snowfall patterns. The financial details regarding the tender have not been disclosed.
This initiative is crucial for addressing significant risks impacting the hotel and residential development sectors in northern Montenegro. The introduction of new accommodation facilities in Kolašin necessitates dependable ski centre operations to achieve winter occupancy rates and maintain property values. While snowmaking is a vital component for safeguarding revenue, it does not address all challenges, including access road conditions, lift capacity, and effective destination management.
