The Kotor-Lovćen Cable Car is set to commence operations on May 1st, as reported by the Mina-Business Agency citing information from the Novi Volvox company.
Acknowledging the cable car’s significance to Montenegro’s tourism, the Government, relevant ministries, and Montenegrin Power Distribution System (CEDIS) have taken proactive measures within their authority to expedite the fulfillment of contractual obligations with the Novi Volvox & Leitner Italia consortium.
Thanks to these efforts, conditions have been met for the Kotor-Lovćen cable car to begin operating on May 1st, offering access to visitors throughout the entire season, from May 1st to November 1st.
The Kotor-Lovćen cable car commenced commercial operations on August 14th last year.
The project, spearheaded by the Novi Volvox – Leitner consortium under a concession agreement signed in December 2021, saw swift completion in just over a year since the cornerstone was laid in July of the same year.
The cable car route originates from Duba, located within the Municipality of Kotor, and ascends to the Kuk site on Mount Lovćen, situated at an altitude of 1,350 meters. With a projected capacity of 48 gondolas accommodating 1,200 passengers per hour, the travel time from the Dub station to the Kuk station is estimated to be under 11 minutes.
