Montenegro and Uzbekistan explore opportunities to strengthen economic cooperation

Montenegro and Uzbekistan have significant room to further enhance their economic relations, particularly through increasing trade volumes and more effective use of investment potentials, according to the presidents of both countries, Jakov Milatović and Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

During the COP29 Summit in Baku, President Milatović highlighted that the relations between the two countries are friendly but need to be intensified and strengthened. He emphasized that this meeting represents an important step forward and opens a new chapter in the relations between Montenegro and Uzbekistan.

“It was jointly acknowledged that there is a need to intensify political dialogue and high-level contacts, which would provide an additional impetus for strengthening overall relations between Montenegro and Uzbekistan,” said a statement from the Public Relations Office of the President of Montenegro.

The statement further noted that Montenegro, recognized as an attractive destination for foreign investments, offers numerous opportunities for Uzbekistani investments.

“The discussions also included the potential for establishing direct year-round flight connections, which would further boost tourism development and strengthen economic ties,” the statement added.

As a next step, it was proposed to establish an Intergovernmental Conference and a Business Forum as a platform for fostering connections and enhancing cooperation between the two countries.
