Montenegro’s Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management selected private company G tech as the preferred bidder to supply technical equipment for a fisheries monitoring centre, with its offer priced at 14,247 euros including VAT. The procurement is for part of a system needed to monitor fishing activity as Montenegro prepares for the European fisheries market.

The ministry launched the tender in early October, with an estimated value of 14,999 euros including VAT. The equipment includes smart-card readers, telephone handsets, phones, disks and batteries intended to protect equipment during power outages. G tech committed to deliver within three days of the contract being signed.

The fisheries monitoring centre is designed for round-the-clock monitoring, control and surveillance of fishing at sea. It is one of the European Union’s Common Fisheries Policy tools for tackling illegal fishing and overseeing fishing activity. Montenegro needs to establish the centre as part of its preparations for the EU fisheries market.

The centre is planned for state premises on Marshal Tito Street in Bar. The premises are planned to be adapted and equipped with funding from the Institutional Development and Agriculture Strengthening Project (MIDAS II), the EU Instrument for Pre-accession Assistance (IPA III) and other donations.
