Ministry of Health data show that about 1.38 million euros was invested in Pljevlja General Hospital over the past three years. During a visit to Pljevlja, Health Minister Vojislav Šimun outlined further investment at the town’s health centre, stronger staffing and plans to build a new hospital.
The hospital investment covered medical and other equipment, vehicles, renovations and improvements to its facilities. It included an EEG cabinet, the introduction of EMNG diagnostics and upgrades to the audiology clinic. Staffing was strengthened by doctors returning from specialist training, new specialists in gynaecology and neurology, and an additional anaesthesiologist.
At Pljevlja Health Centre, work and investment have been under way since March 2025. The Children’s Clinic, injection clinic and physiotherapy room were adapted, and the microbiology laboratory was refurbished. Epoxy flooring worth about 23,000 euros was installed, nine sanitary facilities were renovated, and about 18,000 euros was spent on new furniture for doctors’ offices.
The health centre used its own funds to buy two ambulances and one off-road vehicle for a total of about 130,000 euros. Rural clinics in Bobovo and Boljanići have returned to operation. Landscaping around the centre, a 60,000-euro project carried out with Pljevlja Municipality and support from the Eco Fund, is under way. Another 35,000 euros was allocated to adapt waiting rooms and renovate five clinics for adult patients.
A further 111,604 euros is planned for medical equipment and an ambulance through a loan arrangement between the Ministry of Health and the European Investment Bank.
Šimun said the plan combines upgrades to existing facilities, stronger professional capacity and construction of a new hospital. He said the goal was to provide “better treatment conditions, more accessible services and new opportunities for patients.” During the visit, he toured adapted and equipped rooms and sites where work had begun with Health Centre director Marko Terzić and General Hospital director Saša Grbović.
