Property and legal issues for a 600-meter section of road near Kruševo Ždrijelo, which had delayed the construction of the Cetinje – Čevo highway, have been resolved. As a result, it is expected that the work on the 23-kilometer long section will officially be completed by May.
This was confirmed by the Transport Administration in an official statement to “Vijesti.”
Construction on the Cetinje – Čevo highway began in July 2020, with the project valued at EUR 33,042,777. The work is being carried out by the Nikšić-based company Mehanizacija i Programat. The completion of the project had previously been delayed due to unresolved property issues on a 600-meter stretch where the highway connects to the Cetinje – Podgorica route.
“The planned completion of all works on the Cetinje – Čevo section is set for May 2025. The delay on the 600-meter section and the associated intersection at the entrance to Cetinje was caused by unresolved property and legal issues, which have now been resolved,” stated the Transport Administration.
These 23 kilometers of highway are just part of the planned road that will be built in two phases and will connect Cetinje and Nikšić. The entire project is expected to cost around EUR 80 million. The first phase, from Cetinje to Čevo, is nearing completion, while the second phase, from Čevo to Nikšić (another 23 kilometers), is in the final stages of the main construction project’s design and revision.
“The procedures required by the institutions responsible for environmental protection, cultural heritage protection, and the establishment of public interest for the expropriation of properties in the planned road area have been initiated. These procedures are prerequisites for obtaining the construction permit for the road. Once these procedures are completed, the preparation of tender documentation and the publication of a public call for the selection of contractors and professional supervision will follow,” the Transport Administration emphasized.
