The national airline, To Montenegro, is planning to expand its fleet. Negotiations are currently underway to acquire one more aircraft, as stated by the company’s Executive Director, Vuk Stojanović, in an interview with RTCG. According to him, the airline is performing much better than planned, and when asked about future strategies to improve operations, he explained the situation in more detail.
“The previous director was dismissed largely due to poor business results, but the essence of those poor results was poor planning. The company was faced with a deficit of over four million on July 11. However, this company is currently performing much better than that,” Stojanović said.
Despite the business results for 2024, To Montenegro is already in negotiations to acquire another aircraft.
“To Montenegro is already deeply engaged in negotiations for the acquisition of an aircraft through a ‘dry lease’ arrangement, meaning the aircraft will be added to the fleet, with our crew operating it, our technicians maintaining it, and Air Montenegro being the operator of the aircraft. We expect the fleet to expand with one more airplane,” Stojanović noted.
He also emphasized that the company is now financially sustainable.
“At this moment, we have around 10 million in our account at the end of the year, even in the middle of the winter season. The fact that To Montenegro is sustainable is also reflected in the fact that for the first time in the history of the national airline, the company operated with a positive result for 20 days in November. This also shows that the company has been able to recover from the 4.5 million deficit it faced during the second half of the season,” Stojanović concluded.
